About The Savory Muse

I was born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Northern Indiana. The abundance of farms and forests near my home gave me an appreciation of the outdoors and local foods.

I studied fisheries and wildlife management in college, followed by a graduate focus in environmental science and public affairs.

Eventually, I trained to become a chef and broadened my scope of knowledge and experience in sustainable agriculture, local food sourcing, food systems and food security issues, including research on fair trade, food sovereignty and native diets.  I even created my own small business which includes food writing, private chef services, food project assistance and event planning.

My work embraces the realm of food, the environment, and community.

I also practice meditation, which helps me focus and live in the present moment – in the kitchen, outdoors, and in all aspects of my life.
